Fontanassa - Piedmont/ Gavi

The Fontanassa winery is located in Rovereto di Gavi, in the heart of the historic DOCG Gavi area of the municipality of Gavi. Since 1921 the winery has been family owned and has since then been dedicated to viticulture. The first bottles of Fontanassa were produced in 1988 under the direction of Marco and Roberto Gemme and in collaboration with the established winemaker Gaspare Buscemi.

The wine cellar covers an area of 42 hectares, of which 27 hectares currently used for viticulture. The vineyard faces south / south-west direction and is found on clayey soils containing sand and stones.

The production is done by hand, minimally invasive and with the utmost respect for nature. The stabilization of wines is obtained only by cold treatment, and fermentation is not accelerated by the addition of artificial yeasts. This is the only way to guarantee the preservation of the original character of the grapes. This represents the starting point for the production of authentic wines of highest quality.

In this cellar, with these high demands in terms of quality and authenticity, in addition to the famous Gavi, rosé, red wines are additionally produced and even a sparkling wine and passito from Cortese grapes.
