GINI - GINI TENUTA SCAJARI - VENETO
Gini – that means 15 generations of winemaking tradition.
The Gini family has been growing wine in Monteforte in the heart of the Soave Classico area since 1500. Today the company is run by the two brothers Sandro and Claudio Gini, supported by the whole family.
The philosophy of the Gini family is characterised by organic wine production and maximum attention for their vineyards and wines. The grapes are harvested by hand and only once they are perfectly ripe. Vinification has been carried out without added sulfites since 1985.
The vineyards are a more than exceptional “wine heritage”. The vines have an average age of 80 years, some of them are more than 100 years old. Around a third of the vineyards in the Contrada Salvarenza area are own-rooted, i.e. ungrafted, since they survived the phylloxera which destroyed large parts of the European vineyards between the late 19th and early 20th century.
The soil varies from vineyard to vineyard and ranges from volcanic tuff to limestone soils. This diversity is reflected in the complexity of the wines and the nuances of the different crus.
