Mocavero - Puglia
The Mocavero winery, a family business in its third generation, is located in the heart of Salento in Puglia and is a leading figure in wine production in this region. Founded in 1950, the company is now managed by the two brothers Francesco and Marco Mocavero.
Mocavero is deeply rooted in the tradition of winemaking in the region and at the same time builds an elegant bridge into modern times.
The two Mocavero brothers focus on constantly improving the quality of their wines. Most of the grapes come from older vineyards that are harvested when they are perfectly ripe. Viticulture and winemaking follow the latest standards of modern wine production.
This creates an excellent line of wines which can be considered a synergy between the region’s tradition and modern wine culture. For red wines the typical grapes of the region predominate, a conscious choice in terms of authenticity of the wines: Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera and Primitivo. White wines are made from Chardonnay and the autochthonous Verdeca grapes.
The wines are, without exception, of intense colour, powerful in character; fruitiness is definitely present: a combination of traditional wines with a modern touch, a true show case of the new Apulia.
